Imagine your mother died before you were two years old.
Imagine your father telling you when you were just four that he couldn’t give you the kind of love you needed.
Imagine trying to grow up in a home where you were emotionally, mentally and physically abused.
Imagine a life so bad that you used alcohol and meth to dull the pain. And when that didn’t work, you tried to kill yourself.
Jennifer experienced all of that before coming to Faith Mission. She arrived last spring after attempting to take her own life because she was estranged from her teenage son.
“My son had lost faith in me,” she remembers. “He stopped talking to me. If he wasn’t going to be in my life, what purpose did I have?”
After being released from the hospital, Jennifer came to Faith Mission, where your support provided her with the opportunity to start a new life and heal from past wounds.
Jennifer was “broken, hurt and damaged” when she arrived. Today, she’s “a whole new person.”
As she began to open up, she learned that she was not alone. Not only did she have the support of the staff, but as part of our Training Faithful Women program she began to learn about Jesus. “It felt right,” she says. “It was amazing, and I’m still learning.”
The sense of community has also made a huge difference in Jennifer’s life.
“I’ve had my ups and downs. More downs than ups. But I’ve made it through, and there have been a lot of people here who have stuck by me and helped me. They have not given up on me. I’ve never had that kind of support my whole life. I’ve never known what it’s like to have people care for me like that, so it’s been awesome.”
“They’ve shown me the right way to do things. I’ve been very stubborn and hard to handle sometimes, but they’ve brought me closer to God and have put their faith in me.”
Thank you for making a difference in Jennifer’s life through your prayers and support!
